Hearing God's call | Catechist training | Bible study | NAIDOC week

Vocation is a call to respond to God’s amazing love for us. We all have a vocation through our Baptism, and are called to particular vocations including marriage, consecrated life, single life and ordained ministry. Sometimes, priesthood can seem too hard or too remote from our experience. Yet for those called to priesthood, they speak of how it is their greatest joy. Every day, men are called to the priesthood. Please stop to listen to the call, and please help others to hear the call through your personal encouragement. You don’t have to have all the answers, but are you asking the question? To know more: contact Fr Richard Healey on or 0401 621 591, or visit http://dow.org.au/priesthood.

STEWARDSHIP CORNER – 13th Sunday Ordinary Time
Stewardship spirituality is one of gratitude and generosity. We give thanks for what we have been blessed with by God and with a generous heart move out in action to support those who do not have even the essentials of life. We know however, that this is a balancing act, as St Paul in the second reading writes — “It is a question of balancing what happens to be your surplus now against their present need”. Who is most in need in our lives, in our city and in our country and beyond, how are we balancing our goods and needs with theirs?

You are invited to celebrate this occasion at our Annual Diocesan liturgical celebration on Sunday, 8 July 2012 from 2.00pm at St Francis Xavier Cathedral. This year’s celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sunday is entitled By the Power of Faith, We shall be Healed. The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sunday provides Catholic communities around the country with a timely opportunity to offer thanks to God for the wonderful contribution that Indigenous communities and individuals have made and continue to make to the cultural fabric of Australia in general and to Christian and Catholic communities in particular. Please RSVP to Helen Bennett on (02) 4253 0934 or email
by Monday, 2 July 2012.

There will be an opportunity for each attendee to bring a liturgical music piece along for hands-on guidance and performance tips on the organ.  – MORE THAN A CUPPA with Mr Chris Ehler, Archdiocese of Brisbane on Saturday, 21 July 2012 at St Thomas More Parish, Ruse from 10.00am – 2.30pm. Morning tea and lunch provided. Hospitality is fundamental to the life of any community. The way we welcome others, especially those who enquire about joining our community, reflects on who we are as disciples and stewards of God’s mission. This day is for all those involved in ministry and indeed the whole community. Mr Chris Ehler, from the Archdiocese of Brisbane, will lead us in exploring the meaning of hospitality and assist us in developing ways for creating hospitable and welcoming communities in all areas of ministry and community life. We will also briefly discuss initiatives arising from the March Stewardship Renewal Day. RSVP essential to Darren McDowell on (02) 4253 0985 or email
