The Roman Missal allows the Local Ordinary to permit or decree the addition of a special intention in the General Intercessions of the Good Friday “Celebration of the Lord’s Passion” in case of serious public need.
In view of the impending Journey of the WYD Cross, the Icon of our Blessed Mother and the Aboriginal Message Stick throughout our Diocese, beginning on Easter Monday, I decree that the following petition be added on Good Friday so that, by God’s grace, this sacred pilgrimage will proceed without any incident or injury, and will touch the hearts and lives of people, young and old, throughout our local Church and bring about a resurgence of commitment to our crucified and risen Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
